My definition of spiritual care is recognizing, respecting, and honoring an individuals beliefs. Supporting patients in their faith, hope, and fulfillment is part of holistic care. It has long been known that spiritual health goes hand in hand with physical health. Accommodating a patients spiritual needs helps heal their mind, body, and soul and provides comfort and coping during uncertainty. I believe my definition of spirituality does not differ much from the text. A nurses job is to care for the patient and do anything within their scope to assure the patients optimum recovery. Nurses who understand and respect the importance of spirituality and faith can effectively administer effective soul care to those in need and aid their spiritual distress while reducing their worries and concerns, which allows for more complete physical, emotional, and social well-being (Evans, 2020).
