Nurse managers and nurse leaders contribute to the reengineering of health care by serving as advocates for patients and staff. Nurses impact the quality of care rendered through policy. It is by patient satisfaction and outcomes that nurses influence health care organizations. Nurses can influence the future of health care by affecting policy. An additional way nurses can influence health care organizations is through productivity. The majority of health care organizations rely on the productivity of nurses to characterize the effectiveness of their organization, and determine how to accomplish future goals (Grand Canyon University, 2018).

Nurse managers and nurse leaders must change along with health care organizations. In addition to preserving patient safety, nurse leaders place emphasis on nursing practice and improving patient outcomes. The duties of nurse managers have come to be crucial due to budget cuts, decreased hospital stays, and advances in medical technology (Kodama & Fukahori, 2017). In order to take on these duties, nurse managers also need to serve as leaders.
