Hypertonic solutions will cause cells to lose water. The term plasmolysis means the loss of water from a cell.
Hypertonic solutions are solutions in which there is more solute concentration on the outside of the cell. As a result water will move out of the cell to try and even out the concentration. Hypertonic solutions causes plasmolysis in PLANT CELLS. Hypertonic solutions cause animals cells to shrivel.
